Exploring The Shawangunk Wine Trail | Hudson Valley, NY

Gorgeous views and stellar local wines:

The Shawangunk Wine Trail consists of 13 small to medium sized wineries located from New Paltz in Ulster County all the way to Warwick in Orange County, nestled between the Shawangunk Mountains and the Hudson River, only 60 minutes from NYC. The trail is the perfect excuse to explore the Hudson Valley with friends and family.

The wineries along the Trail are as diverse as the wines themselves: Brand new facilities and gorgeous refurbished barns upwards of 100 years old; production of over 100,000 cases of wine and production of less than 2,000 cases; peace and relaxation at some; live music and special events at others; and some stunning views that make you say, “Wow!”.  Below you can read about 3 of the 13 wineries on the trail. Click on the listed wineries to check out their websites. Keep an eye open for more information on the others in future posts.

Brotherhood Winery is the oldest winery in America, established in 1839, located in the charming town on Washingtonville. For a little taste of local history visit their “village” for their tastings, shopping, café, events and patio. The tours of the largest hand-excavated underground cellars in the country are not to be missed.

Baldwin Vineyards is located in Pine Bush along the scenic Shawangunk Mountains. In 1982, the Baldwin’s purchased the farm which had been the Hardenburgh Estate since 1786. The beautiful red barn, farmland and views make this a very special place to visit.  It is known for its delicious strawberry wine but also has an additional 14 wines to try in their tasting room. They have many events including their strawberry festival.

Robibero Family Vineyards with live music every Saturday and Sunday, this New Paltz hot spot is a great family friendly option (including fur babies). It is the newest winery on the Shawangunk Wine Trail, established in 2010. Coming up this month is their Grape Stomping Festival, September 22nd and 23rd. Enjoy sangria, local craft beer, live music, wood-fired pizza and more. Bring the whole family but don’t forget to purchase your tickets in advance!
